Grant Services

“Action precedes funding. Planning precedes action.”

A lot of the work Mighty Crow does centers around a grant. After evaluating an issue, most of our clients get the funding they need to deal with that issue from federal or state grantees. Understanding this, we offer a full suite of grant services.

Mighty Crow has collaborated with clients to secure grants from The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), The Children's Bureau (CB), The Department of Labor (DOL), the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS), the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), the Ohio Attorney General's Office, and many private foundations.

These are the grant-focused services we offer:

  • Once you’ve identified a grant that seems to suit your needs, we’re here to help you win it. We’ll work with you to review the grant description to ensure it will suit your needs, and we’ll review the application guidelines to make sure you truly qualify and won’t be wasting time by applying. (That happens more than you’d think!)

  • Applying for a grant can be a tedious, lengthy, and multi-phase process, but we’ll be there to assist and answer questions every step of the way.

    • Narrative Writing
Every project begins with an existing story — a narrative — about how things are right now and why they need to change. Every grant application, then, tells a story about how the applicant plans to make that change in all its detail — backed by research and evaluation and written in professional, academic language. But a story is still a story, and deciding which narrative to tell in order to get the grant is a Mighty Crow specialty.

    • Literature Review
Part of “the story of how things are right now” is told by a comprehensive review of existing literature on your topic or issue. We’ll scour academic journals and other published material at the start of your application, then write a literature review for you that will prove to the grantor that you know what’s already being done and what’s known in the field — and therefore that if you win the grant, you’re a worthy recipient who knows what you’re doing.

    • Budget Assistance
We won’t get into the weeds of your organization’s finances. Instead, we will help you to create and understand your own budget’s capacity as well as the budget plan your application is likely requires.

  • Another branch of our evaluation services comes into play during and after grant-funded projects. We will help walk you through the grant management process in an effective and efficient way, to ensure that you remain in compliance with the grant’s guidelines and achieve your project’s goals.

We will support your program throughout all required reporting to complete the grant cycle.
